Carlsbad, San Diego County
Legoland California opened in Carlsbad in March 1999, the first Legoland park built outside Europe. Its Miniland section re-creates American cities out of millions of plastic bricks, and a water park and an aquarium have since joined the rides. The park stands on the hills above the coast, a short drive inland from the beach.
